UmWowStudio - Being Silly

Hi everyone!

Spring is almost here! We are having some fantastic weather in California and we've even got a pair of Mallard ducks that have been hanging out a bit in our backyard :) Totally random stuff but it makes me feel happy!

Something else that makes me happy is this page I've got a page up at UmWowStudio:

My little duckies (I'm on a roll here) are being goofy in a photo booth. I'm enjoying the contrast of the darker color to the lighter subject too...

My UWS Layered Triangles came in very handy too in adding that extra something I needed to make this page feel complete!

Kreative Koncepts Color Challenge #23 - Soar

Hi everyone,

Oooo I think there is such a beautiful spring color palette up at Kreative Koncepts (formally known as Scrap Friends). It's lovely pastels with a wee bit of magic gold glimmer thrown in :) 

I thought it fit just right for this photo of my youngest. She's entranced by something she sees and I love that I caught that moment. Child not aware that photo is being taken = some of mommy's favorite photos.

And of course, here is the fabulous palette:

I wanted to get that gold somewhere in a more concentrated form so I chose one butterfly....

Washi tape, gesso, watercolors and stamps, my background go-to's......

I sketched around the other butterflies with an embossing pen then dusted over the embossed areas with Pearl Ex powder...

I'm also submitting this page for the March mood board at Scrap Around The World. They've set a beautiful mood flowing with feminine pink pastels. What inspiration did I get? Tucking something floral on my page, and using the alphabet in the background.

UmWowStudio - ROTFL!

Hi everyone!

Here's a CT page I made for UWS using their awesome chipboard, flair, and stencil...

The original reveal is here and I write more about the design elements of the page.

I greatly enjoyed making this page since I'm happiest when I get to play around with different mediums. I used a high gloss, heavy gel medium over gesso and cardstock then painted over everything with watercolors and Faber Castell gelatos. The gloss created a nice resist effect. To emphasize some of the circles I used Derwent Inktense pencils.

I thought the title ROTFL (Roll On The Floor Laughing) was very appropriate since that's exactly what my daughter was doing in this photo :)

Scrap Friends Sketch #23 - Beach Babe

Hi everyone,

So late with this page and post, I apologize. We had a little family trip to the snow at Lake Tahoe and of course things are always so busy before and after a vacation!

Anyhoo, without further ado here is my most recent page for Scrap Friends Sketch challenge #23:

These are photos of my youngest from a road trip we took last year up the California coastline. We stopped off at a beach to stretch our legs and as the tide was very low, my daughter was having so much fun running around. Let's just say when she was done, I'd wished I had not let her wear her clothes out there :)

This challenge will be going on through the end of the month so I hope you will find some time to join in!

UWS - Be Filled With Wonder

I'm really enjoying scripting over my pages since taking a class by Kal Barteski. There will certainly be more pages with script in the future. I've also got some close up photos here but more details on how I used the UWS products on their blog so please go check it out!

You Make My Heart Flutter

So a little while back I made a page inspired by February's mood board over at Scrap Around the World:

But I kept coming back to the photo of that very cool cake and decided to make another page. I wanted to do something with overlapping layers so I played around and made these feathers. In fact I have a tutorial which I can't share quite yet, but I'll keep you posted!

The feathers are obviously my most prominent embellishments so I kept other details small. There are many paint, gesso, and stamping layers but I kept the colors soft, more blended.

 I loved using the 7 Dots Studio Love is in the Air paper. They helped give my feathers 'pop'. 

I'm also taking a class by the amazing artist Kal Barteski  and though I didn't use a formal brush, I decided to do a little freestyle handwriting as part of my design for the page.

My Sort of Early Valentine Page

Hi everyone,

I just finished working on another Pop & Colours 2 workshop (this time by Riikka Kovsin!) and I retrospectively realized I made a very Valentine-y page so hence my title :)

This is another photo of my youngest on her second birthday. I'm feeling sentimental because her third birthday is just a few months away and I want her toddlerhood to last a little longer.... She's such a love bug full of big hellos and hugs. She is also very princess-y through and through....loves the color pink, dresses, shiny shoes (so not me!). I speak to her exclusively in Korean and she still managed to pick up the word 'princess' very early on!

And you know what? It's been a while but I'm also going to happily join in a scrap challenge! Scrap Around The World has this eye catching, gorgeous mood board up:

Hearts and pinks, totally inspirational for February and suits my little girl perfectly :)
