TCW - Melbourne Urban Street Art - A Tutorial

Hi everyone!

While we were exploring Melbourne, we came across several alley ways that were filled with really cool graffiti art. It's pretty amazing what people can create with spray bottles! I took a bunch of photos and here's a layout I made with one of them.

I used some of The Crafter's Workshop stencils from the new 2014 Summer release along with Chalk Core cardstock by Core'dination to make my page. Here's a little step by step on now I created part of the background.

I wrote out a quote using a white Sharpie marker and overlapping with a Faber Castell Pastel Pencil.

To distress the page I used the Sand It Gadget by Core'dinations.

Next I used the TCW478 Beaded Curtain stencil with white mist and embossing powder.

On a new sheet of Chalk Core cardstock, I applied many different metallic acrylic paints with make up sponges to TCW470 Geometric Art Layers,  blending as I went.

Here's what that sheet looked like when I was done.

I cut the page into strips and saved some for future projects.

Lastly, I took the strips and layered them on the distressed cardstock then splattered more metallic acrylic paint everywhere, did some messy doodling, added some UmWowStudio Chevron Confetti chipboard and added the photo of course.

Here's some close ups:

Cheers!

UWS - Temple Bayon

Hi everyone,

Last year my husband and I had the opportunity to go to Cambodia and see the many amazing temple ruins there. They are amazing and each one different from the others. Of course we took approximately a million and one photos but besides gracing my memory card, I think I've scrapped one :-/

I'm so happy to be sharing A-nother photo with you all (hey, that's one better than none). One of our favorite temples was Bayon. It has all these massive stone faces high up on its towers...so distinct, amazing. Here's a photo of one of the faces.

I used UmWowStudio products to create this look and I'm so pleased with how well they worked here. The background is stamping on 7Dots Studio paper, followed by stencil work with the UWS Brick Mask and an Oil Bar.

I also used UWS Layered Squares chipboard to make the floating bricks. To get that stone appearance I "patted down" molding paste then painted them with metallic watercolors.

The damask florals from the UWS Floral Collection allude to the flora surrounding these temples. I painted them with Distress Crackle paint.

Hope you enjoyed that, have a wonderful day!

Post Vacation Blog Business :)

Hi everyone!

I've been away on holiday and am doing a little catch up here on my blog! We took a trip to Australia to visit family and attend a wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time celebrating new family, and of course the bride and groom looked dashing!

So, up first I've got my page for The Crafter's Workshop new 2014 summer release!

There are SO many new, awesome stencils to pick from! I used the Folk Art Flower by Kasia aka Czekoczyna (in both large and mini sizes) and Sea Creatures and Nautilus both my Carmen Medlin to make this page.

If you head over to The Crafter's Workshop blog here I have a step by step post on how I made this page. In the meanwhile here are some close ups:

Here's a link to my video on how I make faux sandy paste....

And on to my next page....this is for UmWowStudio using a bunch of their fabulous chipboards and flair!

I've been trying to do better with putting myself as (at least) one of the subjects in my layouts and I had this photo of me and the hubs from our trip to Cambodia/Vietnam that I liked. I wanted to make a romantic themed page without being obviously so. My husband and I have this question and answer we've been asking each other for years about the general state of our lives together :) and it fit the bill for being the focus.

I used a bunch of Twinkle Speech Bubbles as the base to my Alpha ONE letters.

This Day Hashtag Banners also helped balance out the page.

And I thought this cluster of flairs and Love Confetti added just the right touch :)

I hope you enjoyed the pages, both very different but full of things I love to use!
