Art Journal Pages With The Crafter's Workshop

Hi everyone!

Just trying to get a little caught up on my blog here! I made a few art journal pages for The Crafter's Workshop along with a process video for the pink page.

There's a little story on how this page came about....back in May I had the pleasure of meeting a blogosphere friend in real life! Linda Brun (on holiday from Norway) and I had a fun day hanging out and doing some art/craft retail therapy in my neck of the woods. She is such creative, down to earth, kind, encouraging person! I certainly hope to meet up again! Well, she also gave me a very unique mixed media kit - papers with writing in different languages. There was a Russian article about fish and I got the idea to use the pictures of the fish for this page. Thanks Linda!

My second page essentially used the same background technique to get an entirely different look (that's what I love about art journals!).

Here's the video. I've still got a steep learning curve when it comes to making videos...certainly lacking finesse but I hope you enjoy it!

Here Linda and I are, saying bye, after an awesome day of shopping,
talking art, and drinking coffee!

Art Journal Pages

Hi everyone!

I don't play in my art journal nearly as much as I'd like to but sometimes I finish a few pages. I try not to worry to much about the outcome, just enjoy the process. Here's some pages to share:

This page was done over an existing page...it was an incomplete page that I was stuck on so I covered the whole page in gesso and restarted.

I love feathers and I had cut some out of my Silhouette. I used the feathers on one project and used the negatives as stencils for this page. Remember this wonderful quote?

This last page was more about the sentiment. I found myself saying these words again and again on a particular day (I was having one of "those" days) so I decided to commit it to paper.

There's a big weekend coming up, hope everyone enjoys theirs!

And the Winner Is....

Hi everyone!

The winner of my Faber Castell drawing is....

Sharon Fritchey!!

Please email me your address so I can get your prize off to you ASAP! Have fun with the goodies!

Anyone here taking part in the Creative Jumpstart Summit 2013? What a great way to kick in your creativity at the beginning of a new year! I've loved watching all the videos so far and though I haven't practiced all the techniques yet, I did get 2 art journal pages done...

Whether I liked the pages or not, I loved just getting messy and playing around with my supplies! If you're feeling in a creative rut, want to learn some new techniques or just want to see what other creative people are up to, I'd totally recommend CJS 2013!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Art Journaling on Video

Hola everyone!

Just got back from a fun, much needed, trip to Cabo! Went with family and met up with friends to celebrate a belated birthday :)

OK, I've got another post up at Faber Castell Design Memory Craft and this time I've made a video. I decided to make an art journal page using my Stamper's Big Brush Pens and Gelato and I filmed the process. It's my first edited video ever and...ehem...it shows (but I hope you enjoy it anyway!).  Here it is:

And I have to say, I have a new found appreciation for all you people who make video tutorials because WOW that was a lot of work editing! The filming, not too bad. The page, fun to make. The editing?! Yee gads, does it always take that long?

So I have a question for all your video makers out there....what software do you use to edit? I am no professional and I don't want to spend a ton of money on software or equipment so what do you recommend? I used my iPhone to film and then used PSE 7. I dunno, the learning curve definitely had an incline! Photos seem so much easier....

Great words to live by! Hope you all follow yours!

Thank you for visiting!!

Art Journal Relief

Hi everyone! Oh I always feel a bit anxious if I haven't posted anything in a while because it probably means I haven't made ANYTHING and that drives me bonkers. Well life continues to be hectic so I haven't had too much time but I have managed to do a little bit of art journaling and so I wanted to share that with you.

I'm more of a technique journaler. I'm either practicing or trying out something and it just goes from there. I don't do it nearly as much as I'd like too and frankly I'm still about 50/50 on whether or not I like how the page turns out.

This first page is clearly not a finished page and it's something that's been building haphazardly...I started with masking tape, gesso and stencils, thought "eh" not exciting, added some stamps and left it. Then I was making a layout with my water soluble crayons and wanted to try something so I tested the blue here before using it on my layout. The pink circles came from left over paint I didn't want to waste. I like this look but not sure where to take it from here...oh and I'm all for suggestions:)

This is one I've picked up and left off several times..we'll call it a work in progess..

This page is one I made for the Second Floor Challenge hosted by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and Nathalie Kalbach.

Second Floor

Their 2nd challenge was to use something in your crafting space that you had never used before. I pulled out my new Kuretake paint pens in green, white and black, goofed around and came up with this. I'm an RN in my other life and I wear green scrubs, which often leads my husband to say "It's not easy being green"! I pretty much cannot stand this page (well maybe except for the wings) but I'm putting it out there anyway as that is part of the challenge.

My last page is probably the most "journally" of the 3. I got myself a brand new brayer and just wanted to play around with it. After creating the background I cut up some journaling into circles and but them randomly about. This one I'm happy with.

Well that's all for today! Thank you for your visit and comments!
